FAQ

I've tried everything. Why would this be any different?

You probably have, and most of it was not stupid. Look at how those attempts actually ended and they all end the same way: it worked for a while, then it quietly stopped. A spray evaporates. Cotton balls need redoing. Soap gets chewed instead of avoided. Mothballs roll out of an engine bay by themselves. None of those failed because the idea was wrong. They failed because they needed you standing over them and you had a life. This is the same idea in a form that keeps doing its job after you have walked away from it.

Will it fade like the peppermint did?

Everything scent based gets weaker over time, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something. The only question worth asking is how fast. Oil sprayed onto a surface is mostly gone within hours because there is nothing holding on to it. Ours sits in a carrier inside a sealed pouch and leaves it slowly, so instead of a spike that vanishes you get a level that holds. Replace them on the interval printed on the pack and you are never running on the tail end of one.

Won't they just get used to it?

Mice do learn to live with anything that stays the same and stays weak. But what most people call getting used to it is usually simpler than that. The smell dropped below the level worth avoiding, and the mouse walked back through a gap it had been avoiding for weeks. The answer to that is not one heroic dose at the start. It is keeping the level up. Replace on schedule and you are never asking a mouse to be frightened of something faint.

What stops them nesting in it, like the last pouches I bought?

Here is the honest version, because you have seen the photos and so have we. There is nothing magic about a pouch. Once the scent has gone out of one, what is left is a bag, and a mouse hunting for bedding will treat it as exactly that. That is not a freak result, it is what a spent pouch is. Which is why the replacement date matters more than any other thing on this page. A pouch at strength is a wall. A pouch running on fumes is furniture. Keep them current and this never comes up.

Is it actually safe around my dog, my grandkids, my livestock?

There is no poison in it and nothing in it is meant to kill anything, which is the part most people are really asking about. It works by smelling wrong to a mouse, not by being eaten by one. Two sensible caveats anyway: keep them out of reach of a dog that chews whatever it finds, same as you would with anything, and if someone in the house reacts badly to strong scents, use them in the garage, the vehicle and the outbuildings rather than the kitchen.

Where exactly do I put them?

Where they travel, not where you happened to see one. Mice move along edges and through gaps, and they are looking for somewhere warm and sheltered. In a vehicle that means the engine bay, the wheel arches, the cabin air intake and every storage compartment. In a house it means the base of walls, under the sink, behind the fridge, the loft hatch and the edges of a garage door. Cover the ways in rather than the middle of the room, and space them so there is no clean corridor running between two of them.

Do I have to take them out before I drive?

No, and that is most of the point. Nothing rolls loose into a belt, nothing melts into a puddle, and there is no ritual to remember on a cold morning when you are already late. Tuck them in, shut the bonnet, drive. The one rule is the obvious one: keep them off anything that gets genuinely hot, like the exhaust manifold, and they can stay exactly where you put them.

Is this a subscription?

No. You buy what you ordered and that is where it ends. There is no box turning up every month that you have to remember to cancel, and no card sitting on file quietly renewing itself. When these are due for replacement, you come back and buy more, or you do not. We would rather be the brand you choose again than the one you forgot to stop.
